The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced a new Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) with a major organisational overhaul. The committee includes 13 vice presidents, 58 general secretaries, and six new members in the Political Affairs Committee. The decision was approved by the Congress president and announced by K.C. Venugopal through an official press release.
MPs Rajmohan Unnithan, V.K. Sreekandan, Dean Kuriakosen, and former MLAs Pandalom Sudhakaran, A.K. Mani, and C.P. Mohammed have been inducted into the Political Affairs Committee. The new vice presidents include T. Sarathchandra Prasad, Hibi Eden, Palode Ravi, V.T. Balram, V.P. Sajindran, Mathew Kuzhalnadan, and others. Notably, Sandeep Warrier, a former BJP leader, has been appointed a general secretary.
M. Liju has been promoted from general secretary to vice president, while Palode Ravi, who earlier resigned as Thiruvananthapuram DCC president, has also been elevated. D. Sugathan, close to SNDP leader Vellappally Natesan, is among the key appointees. V.A. Narayanan will serve as the KPCC treasurer.
The AICC also dropped several leaders, including N. Shaktan, Maryapuram Sreekumar, G. Subodhanan, and G.S. Babu. The reshuffle aims to strengthen the Kerala Congress ahead of local body elections and next year’s Assembly polls.
