Another Chance for Hijab Clad Dr Nusrat has come as the Bihar government extended the joining date for AYUSH doctors. Dr Nusrat Parveen, who faced controversy during an appointment event, did not join duty by the earlier deadline.
The health department has now fixed January 7 as the final date. Officials said many selected doctors are still waiting to report to their posts.
The issue drew attention after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulled Dr Nusrat’s hijab during a public ceremony in Patna. The incident triggered sharp political reactions and public debate across the state.
Despite the controversy, the government wants to fill vacant AYUSH posts quickly. Officials believe more time will help doctors complete formalities and join work.
Health officers clarified that the extension applies to all selected AYUSH doctors. It does not apply only to Dr Nusrat.
They also warned that the department may not allow another extension. The government hopes doctors will join on time and strengthen health services.
Officials said the focus remains on patient care, especially in rural areas where staff shortages affect treatment.
