A 24-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed and extorted by her male friend at a co-living facility in Whitefield, Bangalore. The incident occurred during the early hours of September 16.Police identified the accused as Sai Babu Chennuru, 37, a native of Andhra Pradesh. He works with a private firm, while his wife and children live in his hometown. The victim, employed as an analyst at a private bank, had been living at the Pro4 Co-living PG in Whiterose Layout for three months.
According to police, Chennuru and the victim were friends. Around 3 am, he allegedly demanded sexual favours. When the woman refused, he stabbed her in the back with a kitchen knife, causing minor injuries.He then stripped the victim, took explicit photographs, and demanded ₹70,000. Before fleeing, he reportedly transferred ₹17,000 from her phone. The victim later contacted a friend, who admitted her to a private hospital.
A police case was filed for attempt to murder, sexual harassment, assault, and extortion. Chennuru was caught by residents when he returned in the evening and handed over to police. He is in judicial custody, while authorities continue their investigation.
