Patiala, Punjab — Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana again urged the Central Government to act on his long-pending mercy plea. On Friday, police took him from Patiala Central Jail to Patiala Dental College for a medical check-up under tight security.
Speaking to reporters, Rajoana said he has spent 30 years in jail, but the government still has not decided his sentence. He said his mercy petition has been waiting for 14 years without any result. “Not taking a decision for so long is itself injustice,” he said firmly.
Rajoana accused the Central Government of ignoring Supreme Court directions. He said the delay showed a lack of will to deliver justice. “If the government cannot decide, it should at least say so openly,” he added.
He demanded an early and clear decision on his sentence. Rajoana’s death sentence was changed to life imprisonment in principle, but the final approval is still pending.
His words once again brought attention to Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and the long delay in his case, which many call a serious issue of justice.
