Bihar Elections 2025: Voters Boycott Polls Over Roads, Floods and Neglect

Bihar Elections 2025 boycott

Villagers in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, boycotted voting during the Bihar Elections 2025, protesting government neglect and unfinished projects. In Aurai, residents refused to vote, blaming authorities for poor rehabilitation after repeated floods and for failing to build police stations.

A banner in Jivajor village blocked the road to the polling station, declaring a boycott. Two booths in Gaighat also stayed empty despite officials’ repeated efforts. Locals such as Sunny Shah, Rahul Kumar, and Laxminiya Devi said their fight for proper rehabilitation would continue until justice is done.

At polling stations 161 and 162 in Gaighat, people demanded a bridge at Rajua Ghat and a new gate at Subhash Chowk. They gathered at the chowk but refused to visit polling booths, angry over years of incomplete work.

In Darbhanga’s Kusheshwarsthan Assembly constituency, voters in Sughrain Panchayat echoed the same frustration. They raised the slogan “No road, no vote,” and boycotted booths 284 to 288. Protest leader Rahul Kumar Rai said residents would not vote until roads were built. Local officials continued efforts to persuade them, but the boycott remained firm.
