Bihar Government Providing Employment to Beggars Through New Scheme

Bihar government providing employment to beggars skill training program

The Bihar government providing employment to beggars has launched a focused welfare scheme to help people move away from begging and earn a stable income. The initiative aims to turn beggars into self-reliant entrepreneurs through training and financial support.

Under the Chief Minister’s Beggary Prevention Scheme, rehabilitation centres operate in several districts. These centres provide food, shelter and basic facilities to people identified as beggars. Officials also register beneficiaries and help them obtain Aadhaar cards, bank accounts and other documents.

The government offers financial assistance of up to ₹10,000 to help beneficiaries start small businesses. Many participants receive skill training in activities such as making incense sticks, earthen lamps, jute products, brooms and slippers. These skills allow them to earn regularly and support their families.

Elderly and disabled beneficiaries also receive help through pension schemes and social security benefits. The programme focuses on long-term income rather than short-term relief.

Officials say the Bihar government providing employment to beggars wants to restore dignity and confidence among the poorest sections of society. Applications are processed through district social security offices after verification.
