Canada Arrests SFJ Leader Inderjit Singh Gosal Over Firearms

Inderjit Singh Gosal arrested in Ottawa on firearms charges

Canadian authorities have arrested Inderjit Singh Gosal, a close aide of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, head of the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), in Ottawa. Gosal faces multiple firearms-related charges. This marks a major move against separatist networks in Canada.

Gosal, 36, is one of SFJ’s main organisers in Canada. He has been monitored by both Indian and Canadian agencies for his role in separatist activities. The arrest comes just after talks between Indian and Canadian National Security Advisers in New Delhi, raising speculation about growing cooperation on terrorism concerns.

The police have not disclosed the exact number or type of weapons seized. Gosal is expected to be presented in court later this week. This is not his first brush with law enforcement. In November 2024, he was detained for allegedly leading a violent mob attack on worshippers at a Hindu temple in Greater Toronto. He was later released under strict conditions but continued his political activities.

Gosal is a trusted aide of Pannun, who is designated a terrorist under Indian law. SFJ is accused of anti-India propaganda and funding separatist campaigns abroad.
