The Punjab DIG bribery case is growing bigger as the CBI raided Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s home again in Chandigarh. Officers searched his Sector 40 house for CCTV footage and checked the property’s value.
Bhullar was arrested on October 16 for taking ₹8 lakh as a bribe from a scrap dealer, calling it “sewa pani.” During the earlier raid, officers found ₹7.5 crore cash, 2.5 kg of gold, 26 luxury watches, property papers, and four firearms.
A middleman, Kirshanu, was caught with ₹21 lakh. The dealer, Akash Batta, said Bhullar demanded monthly payments to close a false 2023 case. Bhullar even threatened him with fake criminal charges.
The officer’s bank lockers revealed more valuables. He had been the DIG of Ropar Range, covering Mohali, Rupnagar, and Fatehgarh Sahib. The Punjab Government suspended him after his arrest. Bhullar is the son of ex-DGP M.S. Bhullar.
