Congress Finalizes 25 Candidates Ahead of Grand Alliance Seat Sharing

Bihar Congress seat-sharing meeting

Before the Bihar Congress seat-sharing talks with RJD, the party has finalized a list of 25 candidates. The Congress Election Committee met in Delhi on Wednesday to prepare the list. Sources said the party aims to keep its first-phase list ready for quick release after seat-sharing is announced. The Congress has confirmed candidates for 25 seats where no objections were raised by RJD or allies. Nominations for the first-phase elections begin on October 10.

Party leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi joined the meeting online, while Krishna Allavaru and others attended in person. Congress initially demanded 70 seats like in 2020, but after Tejashwi Yadav’s objections over strike rate, the figure may settle around 50–60. Rahul Gandhi’s recent visits to Bihar have lifted party morale, increasing pressure on Tejashwi.

The Grand Alliance now includes RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, and VIP. RLJP and JMM may also join. Each party is pushing for more seats, but leaders believe unity is key for defeating the NDA.
