Daring Louvre Heist: Robbers Steal $102 Million Crown Jewels in Paris

Louvre crown jewels heist

A shocking robbery has shaken Paris after two thieves stole priceless crown jewels from the world-famous Louvre Museum. The robbers, disguised as construction workers, used a hydraulic lift to break into the museum and later escape the same way. The entire heist lasted just seven minutes.

The Louvre, home to legendary artworks like the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, was closed on Sunday after the theft. Security footage showed one thief cutting through a glass case in the Apollo Gallery while visitors casually walked by, unaware of the crime unfolding.

The stolen jewels, worth over $102 million, include royal treasures such as tiaras, necklaces, earrings, and brooches once owned by French royalty. Among them were Empress Eugenie’s tiara and brooch, Empress Marie Louise’s emerald set, and Queen Marie-Amelie’s sapphire jewels.

Officials say the jewels are “unsellable” due to their historical value and uniqueness. Despite tight security, the robbers managed to outsmart the system and vanish with the treasures.

The Louvre reopened on Wednesday, welcoming visitors again but under increased security, as investigations continue into one of the boldest heists in modern history.
