In Bhagalpur, a shocking case emerged when a dead woman comes alive in affidavit for land mutation. Officials discovered that a woman who died in 2015 was listed as alive in a land mutation affidavit dated May 13, 2024. This fake affidavit aimed to illegally transfer her property.
The issue came to light after complainant Syed Ainam Uddin presented evidence to the local SDM. He showed that the deceased woman’s identity was misused to get her land mutated. Official records confirmed she had passed away on April 6, 2015, making the affidavit completely false.
The SDM, Vikas Kumar, verified documents and found discrepancies in the records. The mutation case numbered 1188/2024‑25 was declared fake, and legal action was initiated against the people involved.
This incident has raised concerns in the revenue department, highlighting ongoing land fraud in the region. Authorities have assured strict investigation and action to prevent misuse of property records in Bhagalpur.
