Google Expands AI Search in Seven Languages

Google AI Search India expands to seven new languages and introduces Search Live, allowing real-time voice and camera queries.

Google on Wednesday announced a major update to its AI-powered Search in India. AI Mode will now support seven new Indian languages — Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Millions of users can now ask complex questions and receive detailed answers in their preferred language.

Earlier, AI Mode was available only in English and Hindi. It helps users explore deeper topics and ask long, conversational questions. Google said the response in India has been “incredible,” with people using AI Mode for education, writing, product comparisons, and travel planning.

The new language expansion is powered by Google’s custom Gemini model for Search. This model understands local language nuances rather than translating words. Google also introduced ‘Search Live,’ a feature allowing users to interact with Search using voice and camera. India is the first country outside the US to get Search Live, initially in English and Hindi.

With Search Live, users can point their camera at objects and ask questions, receiving instant guidance. It helps with DIY projects, troubleshooting, schoolwork, and travel planning. The feature is rolling out from today and will reach more users in the coming weeks.
