Hamas Demands U.S. Guarantees for Permanent End to Israel War

Hamas Demands U.S. Guarantees

Hamas’s senior negotiator Khalil El-Hayya said on Tuesday that the group will only agree to a deal with Israel if it receives solid guarantees that the war will end permanently. He made the comments during indirect talks with Israel in Egypt.

Speaking to Egypt’s Al-Qahera News, El-Hayya stressed that Hamas does not trust Israel. “We do not trust the occupation, not even for a second,” he said. He added that Israel has a history of breaking its commitments and pointed to two instances during the current war when Israel, according to him, violated ceasefire agreements.

El-Hayya called for binding assurances from U.S. President Donald Trump and other international sponsors that the conflict will not resume after a truce. “Therefore, we want real guarantees,” he said.

The negotiations in Cairo continue as both sides face pressure from international mediators to reach a lasting ceasefire. However, Hamas insists that without external enforcement, any agreement with Israel will collapse just like previous attempts.
