Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu inaugurated a new Passport Seva Kendra at Raidurg in Hyderabad on Tuesday. He urged the Centre to establish another center in the city to meet the growing demand for passport services.
The minister said Hyderabad has been expanding rapidly in all directions with its population increasing every year. To provide better services to citizens, particularly IT professionals and students, another passport office is essential. He noted that over one crore applications are filed annually across India, with Telangana alone accounting for nearly 11 lakh.
Highlighting improved efficiency, Sridhar Babu said the days of waiting months for a passport are over. Telangana Police have become a model for the country by completing verification within just three days. He stressed that the state government is leveraging technology to deliver transparent and efficient public services at the doorstep of citizens.
The new Passport Seva Kendra is expected to significantly benefit city residents by reducing travel time and easing application procedures. The event was attended by MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MLC Mahender Reddy, MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, and Secunderabad RPO Snehaja, among other officials.
