The Indian Inclusive Party (IIP), led by IP Gupta, has officially joined the Grand Alliance for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Gupta, representing the Tanti, Tatva, and Paan communities, claimed that his party has secured three seats in the alliance and will contest under the “Karni Chhap” symbol. He also said the RJD and Congress may allow IIP candidates to contest on their symbols in a few constituencies.
Gupta met senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, before confirming his entry. He left the Congress earlier this year and organized a major rally of the Paan community at Gandhi Maidan, Patna. The Tanti-Tatva group forms about 2 percent of Bihar’s population, making them a small but influential vote bank.
With IIP’s entry, the Grand Alliance now has seven parties—RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, CPM, CPI, VIP, and IIP. Gupta will contest from Saharsa, a seat that RJD has reportedly allotted to him.
