Karnataka HC Hears Bhavish Aggarwal’s Plea in Employee Suicide Case

Karnataka High Court hears Bhavish Aggarwal’s plea to quash charges in the Ola Electric employee suicide case.

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday heard Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s plea to quash an abetment-to-suicide case. The case involves the death of 38-year-old engineer K. Aravind, who worked with Ola Electric in Bengaluru and allegedly ended his life on September 28.

During the hearing, complainant’s lawyer Prasanna Kumar accused Ola Electric of mistreating staff and compared it to the “East India Company.” He said Aravind faced constant harassment and salary delays that pushed him into distress. Aravind’s brother, Ashwin Kannan, filed a police complaint against Aggarwal and other company officials.

Aggarwal’s counsel, M. S. Shyamsundar, said the case was wrongly filed. He argued it began as an Unnatural Death Report and should not have turned into an FIR. He claimed Ola cleared Aravind’s dues and said false allegations hurt the firm’s image.

Ola Electric stated that Aravind never reported harassment or grievances. The court directed police to investigate fairly without harassing the petitioners. It fixed the next hearing for November 17.
