Lucknow Student Ends Life After Losing ₹13 Lakh in Online Game

Sixth-grade boy in Lucknow loses ₹13 lakh in Free Fire game, later dies by suicide, leaving family and school in shock.

A shocking case from Lucknow has highlighted the dangers of online gaming addiction. A sixth-grade student, Yash Kumar, lost ₹13 lakh in online game betting and later died by suicide. The incident occurred in Mohanlalganj area, leaving the community in deep shock.

Yash, a student at BIPS School, was the son of painter Suresh Kumar Yadav. Two years ago, Suresh had sold land and deposited ₹13 lakh in Union Bank’s Bijnor branch. On September 15, he visited the bank to update his passbook and discovered the money was missing. The bank statement revealed that the funds were spent on online gaming bets.

When confronted, Yash initially denied involvement but later admitted to losing the money while playing Free Fire. His father tried to counsel him without anger, even involving his tutor for guidance. However, Yash, overwhelmed with guilt, hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his room. Family members rushed him to a community health center, but doctors declared him dead.

The loss devastated his parents, with his mother fainting upon hearing the news. Police registered a case and shifted the body for post-mortem. The school management expressed grief and declared a holiday in his memory.
