The BSP Bihar setback has grown after the party’s state in-charge Anil Kumar resigned from his post. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by Mayawati, won only one seat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. This defeat and the resignation have created serious challenges for the party. The BSP Bihar setback is now a major concern for the leadership.
Anil Kumar also left the primary membership of the party. In his letter to Mayawati, he said he was leaving due to personal reasons. He thanked the leadership for their support and guidance during his tenure.
A day before his resignation, the BSP held a high-level review meeting in Patna. National coordinator Akash Anand, Rajya Sabha member Ramji Gautam, and other leaders took part. The party’s position in Bihar was already weak. Anil Kumar’s sudden exit has made the situation more difficult.
The BSP managed to win only one seat in Ramgarh, where Satish Yadav won by just 30 votes. The party fears that its lone MLA may also face pressure to switch sides.
This is not the first time such a situation has occurred. In 2020, BSP MLA Mohammad Jama Khan also joined the JDU and became a minister.
