PM Modi Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack at SCO Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing SCO Summit in Tianjin, condemning terrorism and criticizing Pakistan’s stance on terror

Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it an act of brutality that exposed the inhuman nature of terrorism. He made these remarks while addressing the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin, China, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and other heads of state were also present.

In his speech, Modi stressed that terrorism remains a serious threat to global peace and stability. He noted that India has been battling the menace of terrorism for the past four decades and continues to face its consequences. He highlighted that as an active member of the SCO, India is committed to security, integration, and opportunity — the three pillars guiding its role in the regional grouping.

The Prime Minister pointed out that both terrorism and separatism have emerged as major challenges in recent years. He invited SCO nations to actively participate in India’s development journey while stressing the need for collective reforms and cooperation. Modi urged member states to maintain restraint and move forward in harmony.

Modi also expressed gratitude to countries that stood with India during the Pahalgam attack. In a bold move, he criticized Pakistan’s stance on terrorism, openly denouncing nations that provide direct support to terrorist groups, even in the presence of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This sharp rebuke became one of the key highlights of the summit.
