The Bihar friendly fight seats turned into a major advantage for the NDA in the recent Bihar Assembly elections. The Grand Alliance struggled in these Bihar friendly fight seats, where its own candidates competed against each other. This split their votes and opened the door for a clean sweep by the NDA.
Across 11 constituencies — Vaishali, Rajapakar, Biharsarif, Bachhwara, Beldaur, Kahalgaon, Sultanganj, Chainpur, Sikandra, Karhagar and Narkatiaganj — NDA candidates won with clear margins. JDU captured most seats, while BJP and HAM secured the remaining ones.
In Vaishali, Rajapakar, Sultanganj and Chainpur, direct contests inside the Grand Alliance helped JDU win comfortably. In Biharsarif and Bachhwara, BJP candidates defeated Congress and CPI rivals with strong leads. HAM won the Sikandra seat by using the same vote-split advantage.
Many opposition candidates came third or even seventh, showing how internal fights weakened the Grand Alliance. Several contests saw margins above 30,000 to 50,000 votes, proving that the NDA’s strategy worked well.
These results highlight how internal rivalry can change outcomes in tight elections. The NDA benefitted fully, turning friendly fights in the opposition camp into clear victories.
