NIA Arrests Kamalkant Alias Uncle Ji: A Hidden Arms Network Comes to Light

NIA arrests Kamalkant alias Uncle Ji in Patna arms smuggling case

Patna: NIA arrests Kamalkant alias Uncle Ji in a major breakthrough against illegal arms trafficking. NIA arrests Kamalkant alias Uncle Ji from Patna after tracking his role as a key link in a multi-state weapons smuggling network, officials said on Tuesday.

Kamalkant, known by the alias “Uncle Ji,” had been under surveillance for a long time. Investigators say he coordinated the supply of illegal firearms and ammunition to criminals across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

The NIA found that he sourced ammunition from licensed gun houses in Haryana. The weapons were then moved illegally through Uttar Pradesh and supplied to different parts of Bihar. The agency believes the network supported organised crime and posed a serious threat to public safety.

Earlier this month, the NIA conducted raids at more than 20 locations across three states. Several of Kamalkant’s associates were arrested during those searches. A large quantity of illegal arms and live cartridges was also recovered.

With this arrest, the total number of accused held in the case has gone up. The NIA said further investigation is ongoing to trace buyers, financiers, and other links in the network.
