Pataliputra Cooperative Bank official faces massive asset shock after EOU raids

Pataliputra Cooperative Bank official under EOU investigation during raids in Bihar

A Pataliputra Cooperative Bank official has landed in serious trouble after Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) carried out major raids across multiple locations. The action revealed assets worth crores, raising sharp questions about illegal wealth.

The Pataliputra Cooperative Bank official, identified as Bhavesh Kumar Singh, works as a development officer at the bank. The EOU raided six locations linked to him in Patna, Gopalganj, and Bihta. Officers found a petrol pump, a rice mill, a luxury G-5 house, and large land holdings.

Investigators said Singh joined the bank in 2014 and rose to Scale-3 in 2024. During this period, he allegedly acquired assets over 60 percent higher than his known income. The EOU registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The probe also revealed that a petrol pump was opened in his daughter’s name, while a rice mill was operated by a relative. Bank passbooks, insurance papers, and jewellery records were seized. Large cash deposits and high-value transactions were traced.

Officials have started freezing bank accounts. More assets may surface after valuation and financial checks are completed.
