Patna schools up to Class 5 closed till 5 January due to severe cold and fog

Patna schools up to Class 5 closed till 5 January after the district administration issued fresh orders due to severe cold and dense fog. Patna schools up to Class 5 closed till 5 January to ensure the safety and health of young children, who face higher risk during extreme winter conditions.

The order applies to all government and private schools, including pre-schools and anganwadi centres. Authorities said low temperatures and poor visibility in the morning could affect children’s health and daily travel.

Schools for students from Class 6 onwards will remain open but with revised timings. These classes will run from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Schools have been asked to strictly follow the new schedule.

However, board examinations, pre-board exams, and special academic activities can continue as planned. School managements must ensure that students are not exposed to cold for long hours.

The weather department has predicted continued cold waves and fog in Patna and other parts of Bihar. The administration said it will review the situation before January 5 and take further decisions if needed.

Parents have welcomed the move, saying it will help protect children from falling sick during the harsh winter spell.
