In Muzaffarpur, posing as police jeweler duped of 15 lakh jewelry in a shocking daylight fraud that has raised serious security concerns. The incident took place near Aam Gola Road under the Kazi Mohammadpur police station area.
The victim, jeweler Parmanand Prasad Gupta, was returning after purchasing sweets when two men in police uniforms stopped him. They warned him about a robbery reported ahead and advised him to remove his jewelry for safety.
The men asked Gupta to place his gold ornaments in a paper packet. Trusting them, he handed over jewelry worth nearly ₹15 lakh. Soon after, the men quickly left the spot.
Within minutes, Gupta became suspicious. He checked the packet inside his car and was stunned to find bolts and stones instead of jewelry. He immediately rushed to the nearby police station and filed a complaint.
Police reached the scene and began an investigation. Officers are scanning CCTV footage from nearby shops and roads to identify the suspects. The police have assured strict action and urged traders to remain alert.
This case has caused fear among local jewelers, who are now demanding stronger police verification and public awareness.
