Punjab Auto Market Booms After GST Cuts

Punjab auto sales after GST reforms – car showroom rush

Automobile dealers across Punjab are witnessing an unprecedented boom in business. The sharp fall in car and bike prices after GST reforms, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, triggered record-breaking sales on the very first day of Navratras.

In Jalandhar, Maruti dealer Amit Mittal said his outlet sold 285 cars in a single day, compared to just one or two earlier. Brezza and Swift models, cheaper by nearly ₹1 lakh, topped the charts. Mittal also sold 125 Bajaj bikes, each down by ₹7,000–₹8,000.

Ludhiana’s Maruti Suzuki delivered 800 cars in just two days and is expected to cross 1,500 sales this month. Customer queries too jumped sharply, showing a clear surge in demand. Gulzar Motors reported an 80% rise in bookings and 60% more enquiries, thanks to a 10% GST cut and festive discounts.

Volkswagen’s Lally Motors and Amritsar outlets also reported major gains, with Amritsar dealers noting 50% higher sales. Kia dealer Udit Kapoor said discounts pushed walk-ins and bookings beyond Dhanteras records, with an ₹8.5 lakh car now selling at ₹7.1 lakh.

The GST 2.0 rollout has turned Navratras into a golden season for Punjab auto sales.
