This year, Chikungunya cases in Mansa have crossed 48, surpassing 36 dengue cases, according to official data. Locals, however, say the actual numbers are much higher. Health officials admitted the disease count has risen compared to last year.
Dr. Santosh Bharti, District Epidemiologist, explained that Chikungunya cases in Mansa are higher because testing facilities are available at Budhlada and Mansa Civil Hospitals. Special wards with mosquito nets are arranged for patients. He clarified that mosquitoes breed in clean, stagnant water, not dirty water.
Advocate Aneesh Jindal blamed poor sanitation and collapsed sewage systems. Many families near the bus stand and Lalluana Road have multiple patients, while mosquito control is mostly handled by local groups.
Chikungunya causes fever, joint pain, and rashes, while dengue brings body pain and can be fatal if severe. Experts warn citizens to avoid mosquito breeding spots and keep their surroundings clean.
