The Rohtas ropeway tower collapse in Bihar has shocked locals and raised serious safety concerns. The ropeway tower collapsed within a week of trial runs, despite the project costing nearly ₹13 crore. The incident took place near Rohtasgarh Fort in Rohtas district.
The ropeway was built to help tourists and devotees reach Rohtasgarh Fort and Rohiteshwar Dham easily. Officials planned to open the project soon after successful trials. However, one of the main towers suddenly collapsed during testing, damaging the structure and cable system.
No workers or officials were injured at the site. The area was quickly sealed to prevent further damage. Authorities stopped all work on the ropeway immediately after the incident.
The Rohtas ropeway tower collapse has led to questions about construction quality, material strength, and supervision. Locals and opposition leaders have demanded a high-level investigation. Many have also alleged negligence and misuse of public funds.
The district administration has ordered a technical inspection and formed a committee to find the exact cause. Officials say strict action will follow if faults are found in design or construction.
The collapse has delayed the project indefinitely and increased public concern about infrastructure safety in Bihar.
