Telangana Jagruthi chief and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanded an immediate solution for the long-standing issues of Singareni workers. She, along with her activists and HMS Singareni Union leaders, surrounded the Singareni Bhavan in the city today. Police intervened promptly and stopped the protest. Several leaders, including Kavitha, were arrested and taken to Nampally Police Station.
Kavitha urged the government to halt the auction of coal blocks in Telangana immediately. She demanded that new coal blocks be allotted exclusively to Singareni. According to her, this move is crucial for the company’s financial stability. She also called for stopping income tax deductions from workers’ salaries, which she said would reduce their financial burden.
She alleged that 25% of contracts in the Singareni sector involve corruption, with 10% of shares going to Congress leaders. Kavitha warned that if the government fails to respond, she will approach the CBI. She emphasized the need for a medical board for workers, which has been pending for two years, highlighting its importance for their health.
Kavitha criticized the continuation of dependent employees without new job creation. She stressed that removing them is unfair and urged authorities to take immediate action. The protest highlighted ongoing labor concerns and the need for swift governmental intervention.
