Hyderabad is set to witness a massive protest as private professional colleges across Telangana have announced an indefinite shutdown starting today. The management associations stated that the government has failed to clear *₹1,200 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues*, forcing them to take this drastic step.
Leaders of the associations declared that on *September 21 and 22, they will organize a *“Maha Dharna” with nearly 10 lakh students** in Hyderabad to press for their demands. They made it clear that the strike will continue unless the dues are cleared before Dasara.
The fee reimbursement scheme, aimed at supporting students from economically weaker sections, has been facing delays for months. Colleges argue that the lack of funds has crippled their operations, affecting both staff salaries and student services. With the Maha Dharna looming, the standoff between institutions and the government could escalate into a major state-level issue.
