The first phase of the Bihar Elections 2025 covered 121 assembly seats across 18 districts. Voting began smoothly at 6 a.m., monitored through live webcasting from all 45,341 booths. At the Chief Electoral Officer’s control center, officials tracked every polling station in real time.
By 9 a.m., voter turnout data for the first two hours was uploaded to the Voter Turnout app. Minor glitches affected around 500 booths, where staff quickly reconnected the app and resumed updates. Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjyal and senior officials supervised operations throughout the day.
In Vaishali, action was taken after a voter posted an EVM photo online. In Lakhisarai, protests erupted after an attack on Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s convoy. Police responded promptly to all incidents.
Over 1,500 central forces and 45,000 state personnel were deployed. Security was tightened in Diara, hilly, and Naxal-affected areas with drones, mounted units, and checkpoints.
Despite scattered violence and protests, polling remained largely peaceful. The Election Commission and police ensured smooth, transparent, and secure voting across Bihar.
