Southern Railway has issued an important announcement for passengers in Andhra Pradesh. The Chennai–Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express will now be extended up to Narsapur, offering greater connectivity to coastal districts. Earlier, the service operated only between Chennai Central and Vijayawada.

According to the latest notification, the extended route will cover Gudivada and Bhimavaram Town before reaching Narsapur. The new extension will begin operations on January 12, coinciding with the Sankranti festive season, a time when passenger demand is high.

As per the revised schedule, the Vande Bharat Express will depart from Chennai Central at 5:30 AM and reach Vijayawada at 11:40 AM. From there, it will continue its journey to Narsapur, arriving at 2:10 PM. The return service will leave Narsapur at 2:50 PM and reach Chennai by 11:45 PM.

Railway officials stated that the extension aims to improve travel convenience for passengers from the Godavari region. The decision is expected to boost connectivity and enhance the travel experience between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
