A village electricity connection cut after fight with a junior engineer has pushed hundreds of families into darkness in Bihar. The incident took place in a village under the Sasaram subdivision, where a dispute broke out between a local resident and a junior engineer from the power department. Soon after the clash, the department disconnected electricity to the entire village.
Residents said the sudden power cut has created serious problems. Water supply under the government tap water scheme stopped because pumps need electricity. People now walk long distances to collect water for daily use.
Students are unable to study at night, and households struggle to cook food and charge mobile phones. Villagers claimed it was unfair to punish everyone for a fight involving one person. Many families said they pay electricity bills regularly.
Local leaders and social workers supported the villagers. They said cutting power to the whole village violates government guidelines. The villagers plan to complain to senior district officials if power is not restored soon.
Power department officials said the junior engineer was assaulted during duty. They also mentioned reports of electricity theft in the area. An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident. Officials assured residents that electricity will be restored after the situation is reviewed.
