Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Double Century Dreams Dashed

Yashasvi Jaiswal Double Century

India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal missed out on a double century on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies. He started the day on 173 and hoped to become one of the youngest players to notch three double tons in Tests.

The innings ended after a mix-up with skipper Shubman Gill. Jaiswal drove a ball to mid-off and crossed the pitch’s halfway mark before Gill sent him back. Sadly, he couldn’t make it to the crease in time and was run out. The two shared a brief, animated discussion before Jaiswal returned to the pavilion, disappointed.

Jaiswal had stolen the spotlight on Day 1, batting through the day to finish unbeaten on 173 from 253 balls, hitting 22 fours. He started cautiously against the West Indies pace attack and then accelerated, reaching his fifty in 82 balls and completing his seventh Test hundred soon after. By the end of Day 1, he had crossed 150 and looked set for a third double ton.

Anil Kumble praised Jaiswal’s hunger and determination, saying he builds big innings not just for himself but for the team. Even with his short career, Kumble noted, Jaiswal never wastes opportunities.
